DPRTE 2026 Recap: Enabling Smarter, More Resilient Defence Estates Jamie Markham 21.04.2026 DPRTE 2026: meaningful conversations, real momentum DPRTE 2026 marked a valuable two days in Farnborough. With time to reflect, what stands out is the quality of conversation, the new connections formed and the clear momentum building across the sector. We are already looking forward to returning next year. An impactful event The energy at DPRTE this year was brilliant. The exhibition floor across both days was busy, but more importantly, the quality of conversation stood out. From the moment doors opened, it was clear that attendees were focused on tackling the real challenges facing defence procurement and estate management. For us, DPRTE continues to be one of the most valuable events in the calendar. Not just as an opportunity to showcase what MACS does, but as a chance to listen. To understand what is keeping estate and procurement professionals up at night, where the pressure points sit and where better use of data can genuinely move things forward. Two days of action Our team on Stand 153 were kept on their toes throughout. It was great to see so many familiar faces, alongside plenty of new ones. Conversations ranged from strategic estate transformation through to the practical realities of integration, governance and data quality. That range is a reminder of just how broad the asset management challenge really is and why getting the fundamentals right remains so important. We were also delighted with the response to our drone prize draw. Thank you to everyone who stopped by the stand to enter, we hope the winners are enjoying their new MACS drone. Estate management in action One of the standout moments of the event was our case study session in the Infrastructure and Estates Knowledge Transfer Zone. MACS Sales Director Peter Lemon joined Phil Sayers, CIO at the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, to explore how data-driven, resilient and sustainable estate management is being delivered at scale. The session was packed out, with strong engagement throughout and a Q&A that sparked exactly the kind of thoughtful, probing discussion we hoped for. It is clear that digitally enabled estate management is high on the agenda across the sector. From fragmented data to a single source of truth A key theme from the session was the scale of the challenge faced by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation and how that has been addressed over time. The defence estate spans close to 2 percent of UK landmass, with hundreds of sites and tens of thousands of buildings. Historically, this was supported by more than 150 disconnected systems, with no consistent standards and limited visibility across the estate. The transformation has focused on bringing that fragmented landscape together into a single, unified digital asset master record. This has enabled:A consistent, standardised data model across millions of assetsA fully integrated view of estate, maintenance and capital activityImproved auditability, data ownership and governanceFaster, more reliable decision making based on trusted dataAt its core, the programme has not just been about technology. It has been about creating the foundation for operational readiness, resilience and long term sustainability across one of the most complex estates in Europe.
