Behind the Triumph: An Interview with Peter Lemon on the TRIRIGA World Awards Success Jamie Markham 14.08.2024 We Interviewed our very own Peter Lemon, Strategic Business Lead, for an exclusive insight into the process leading up to the TRIRIGA World Awards win and the experience of the TRIRIGA World event in Phoenix, Arizona. The Journey to TRIRIGA World Awards Success Last week in Phoenix, Arizona, MACS and the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) were honoured with the prestigious Best Long-Term Journey award at the TRIRIGA World Awards. This recognition celebrates our enduring partnership and the success we’ve achieved together over the years. The award acknowledges the best long-term IBM TRIRIGA implementation, highlighting the transformative journey, lessons learned, solution evolution, and our future plans. To delve deeper into the process leading up to this achievement and the experience of the TRIRIGA World event, we sat down with our very own Peter Lemon, Strategic Business Lead, for an exclusive interview. Peter LemonStrategic Business Lead, MACS 1. Tell us briefly about the journey to get the award? The first part of the process was the writing of a joint award submission with DIO telling about our journey together. why we started, what we learnt, how we changed, and what’s on our long-term roadmap. Part two of the process involved Alex Brain (MACS UK, Operations Director) , Phil Sayer (CIO DIO) and I attending an interview panel, made up of TRIRIGA experts from IBM and the User Community, and presenting on our submission. 2. Do you remember the moment you found out DIO/MACS had won the award? Yes – we were told we would know whether we had been successful or not on the Friday following the interview. When we had not heard anything I thought we had missed out. It was a great surprise when Alex called me on the Monday morning to ask if I had looked at my emails and there it was – confirmation that we had won! The news was embargoed until the award ceremony itself and it was really tough to not say anything. 3. What does this award represent for the DIO/MACS? We are deeply honoured by this global recognition from our peers, which reflects the dedication, hard work, and collaborative spirit that both the DIO and MACS teams have shown throughout this journey. It also celebrates the talented individuals from both DIO and MACS, whose unwavering commitment and expertise have been crucial in achieving this success.Throughout our long-term strategic partnership with DIO, we have faced challenges together, celebrated successes, and delivered one of the largest Asset Lifecycle Management systems in Europe. 4. How was the atmosphere/vibe/excitement during the awards ceremony? The atmosphere at the TRIRIGA World Awards ceremony was a blend of excitement and anticipation. There was a palpable sense of pride and accomplishment in the room.As the compares began, the buzz of networking and mingling gave way to a collective hush and focus on the stage. Each award announcement was met with enthusiastic applause and genuine admiration. We were last to go on stage to collect our Best Long-term Journey Award, which further added to the anticipation. All winners were celebrated not just for their achievements, but for the hard work, creativity, and collaborative spirit that brought them to this moment. The vibe was one of mutual respect and inspiration, as everyone in attendance recognised the significance of the contributions being honoured. 5. How was Phoenix in general for TRIRIGA/Maximo World event? Hot!! Holding an event in the middle of the Arizona desert was a shock to the system when you are used to the UK climate. However, the conference centre was excellent and the aircon very welcome in the 49 degrees heat.We were on a quick turnaround, as we flew out on the Monday and flew back on the Wednesday. However, we were still able to see a little bit of the Scottsdale area which is lovely. 6. What is one thing that will be a lasting memory from the trip to Phoenix? Other than the awards itself, which will be a lasting memory, it’s got to be travelling around in the fully autonomous, driverless Waymo cabs. Being a self-confessed techno geek that was a real highlight and a glimpse into the future. A massive thank you to Peter for offering us a deeper look into our award win at the TRIRIGA World Awards and sharing what it was like to be part of the world’s largest TRIRIGA/Maximo event. We are immensely proud to share this prestigious accolade with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation and deeply grateful for this recognition. This achievement would not have been possible without the tireless efforts and unwavering dedication of everyone involved. A heartfelt thank you to the entire MACS team and our partners at DIO for their collaboration and commitment throughout this remarkable journey.Curious about how MACS can help transform your organisation?
